Telkom Knockout match report Kaizer Chiefs v Maritzburg United 24 November 2019

Chiefs welcomed back Reeve Frosler, Kearyn Baccus and Bruce Bvuma in goal, with Khama Billiat missing out. Meanwhile, Mxolisi Kunene and Keagan Buchanan returned for the visitors.

Maritzburg asked all the questions 21 minutes from kick off when Kunene sold Frosler to bring the best out of Bvuma from a tight angle on the left side.

Chiefs dusted off the rusty approach and invaded the opposite end at the midway stage, but Frosler and Leonardo Castro particularly fired well off target.

The Team of Choice hit the front when a sloppy back pass from Daniel Cardoso landed kindly to a lurky Judas Moseamedi who rounded Bvuma to slot into an empty net on the half-hour mark.

Moseamedi went close to a second goal minutes later when he once again robbed Cardoso but with a couple teammates open, he opted to go for goal and was denied by Bvuma.

Ernst Middendorp went more offensive at the start of the second with the arrival of Dumisani Zuma who replaced Baccus. As a result, Richard Ofori was given his first save when Nurkovic turned in the area to fire a low shot from the near side on 55 minutes, whilst Bernard Parker headed off target moments earlier.

United regroup and cracked the outside post five minutes later through a rasping shot from the centre of the area by Daylon Claasen who fed off a cross from Kunene.

The Amakhosi eventually levelled matters when a diving header from Nurkovic proved too strong for Ofori, who palmed straight to Yagan Sasman to slot home the rebound on 78 minutes.

Howver, the Team of Choice regained control six minutes later when a two against two situation ended with Moseamedi side-footing home from an unguarded position in the centre of the area to send the KwaZulu-Natal to the final, where they will face Sundowns.
