Gallants released a statement on Thursday, confirming the suspension of Tholang Masegela, Aluwani Nedzamba and Simon Mamudzidi for reasons that the club failed to reveal.
The Limpopo-based side has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons in recent times after an assistant coach resigned recently following behind the scenes drama.
SAFPU spokesperson, Calvin Motloung has since revealed the reasons behind the players' suspension at Marumo Gallants.
"The reason why the players were suspended is that they demanded their outstanding salary," Motloung said.
"In fact, this issue dates back to a few months ago where they were not paid their full salary.
"Their crime was now to ask further questions regarding their money owed.
"We have since written a letter to the club and given them 10 days to respond, with failure to do resulting in us to seek legal action."
Marumo Gallants are not new to financial controversy after allegedly failing to reimburse players with bonuses after winning the Nedbank Cup last season.
