Reigning African champions Al Ahly have discovered their fate at the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar where the Egyptian giants have been drawn against Mexican side Monterrey in the Second Round of the competition.
Pitso Mosimane's side is set to get their campaign underway in February next year and will meet South American champions Palmeiras in the semi-final if they are able to advance beyond their opening match.
Meanwhile, Al Ahly, who ended third at last year's edition of the Club World Cup, have lodged a protest against the dates for the competition, which is set to clash with the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon.
Up to 10 players from the Team of the Century could thus be called away for international duty, leaving Mosimane and his coaching staff short of options and at a notable disadvantage for the prestigious club competition.
