Al Ahly solidified their position at the top of the Egyptian Premier League standings on Tuesday after recording a comprehensive 3-0 win over second-placed Pyramids, courtesy of goals from Mohamed Kafsha, Amr El Soleya and Mohamed Sherif.
The result saw Mosimane record his first win over their rivals at his fourth time of asking and sent a clear message to the club's title rivals that Ahly were going all out in pursuit of the domestic league title this season.
"Winning today was the most important thing, Pyramids was the only team I didn't beat with Al Ahly yet," Mosimane said during his post-match
"Pyramids games are always difficult, and things weren't easy in the first half, but we improved in the second half. Pyramids are a very good team and they have a very good coach but today we were smarter.
"We knew we had to beat Al-Merreikh [in the CAF Champions League] and Pyramids, and now we have to go and beat Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa. We are determined to win the Egyptian Premier League this season, especially after losing it last year."
Mosimane added a stern warning to his competitors, both domestically and abroad, by claiming that his side would only get better with time, similar to the growth he oversaw during his time at the helm of Sundowns.
"Give me more time and you will see how strong Al Ahly can be," he said. "It took me eight years with Sundowns to bring out their full potential. As a result of the work done over the years, they have a very strong team right now."
