Pitso Mosimane: Europe is not ready for an African coach

Mosimane revealed the reasons why it may prove difficult to be given the experience to coach in Europe in the future.

Mosimane is one of the leading coaches in Africa and boasts three CAF Champions League crowns to his name, having won the prestigious competition with Mamelodi Sundowns in 2016 and in each of the last two editions with Al Ahly.

Having won all there is to win on the continent, it has been suggested that the former Masandawana boss might look to try his hand in Europe, but this appears unlikely following the 57-year-old's latest comments.

"I think Europe is not ready to have African coaches, and that's the truth," Mosimane said during an interview with SABC News.

"Sometimes you think that for them, European football is for Europeans, we don't even notice there are coaches from South America there," he continued.

"You can see that also in the Ballon d'Or. We saw, for example, Sadio Mane or Mohamed Salah, who should have won the award, but they never won it before because they are from Africa.

"But let's be realistic, Europe is not ready for Africa, this is the truth. I'm convinced of that, we are isolated from them, so we must continue our journey in Africa and the Middle East."
