Al Ahly claimed bragging rights over domestic rivals and reigning Egyptian Premier League champions Zamalek on Friday evening after romping to an emphatic 5-3 win at the Cairo Stadium.
That result saw Mosimane get one over Patrice Carteron's side after being pipped to the league crown by the Frenchman and his team by just four points during the 2020/21 campaign.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns boss was quick to laud his players for their performance and suggested that the result emphasized why Ahly were the third-best team in the world, in reference to their third-placed finish at the 2020 FIFA Club World Cup.
"We managed to achieve a good result over Zamalek. My players played with a good spirit and were also tactically smarter," Mosimane told Al Ahly's media team.
"We scored five goals: three in the first half and two in the second half. I wanted to score more, but you cannot have everything.
"We are a big team. We are the champions of Africa, we are the team number three in the world, we are the CAF Super Cup champions, we are Al Ahly."
Mosimane joined the Team of the Century in 2020 and has since won two CAF Champions League crowns, the CAF Super Cup and the Egypt Cup, while he also ended third at the Club World Cup behind Bayern Munich and Tigres.
