Patrick Mayo: 'We expect nothing less than a Bafana win

Although Broos' reign as Bafana head coach has gotten off to a positive start, Mayo claims to not be totally convinced by the Belgian's selections.

"Although he is doing well by winning games, we still have some sort of question marks regarding his selection criteria.

"Like how does he select his players because some of them are not playing regularly at club level. But he still selects them for the national team. But we have to respect his choices because at the end of the day the coach's decision is final.

"But I would prefer to see him selecting players of his choice so that if he fails he will blame no one else. I'm not exactly impressed with the team because they have not played the football that we are expecting, but the most important thing is that they are winning.

"I guess it's fine. Let's hope they qualify because we've failed to secure qualification for major tournaments over recent years.

"It was tough even to qualify for this year's Africa Cup of Nations. But since Broos took over the team is doing well. So at the same time, we have to compliment him and his team.

"So let's just give him a chance. Let's wait and see. The only thing he needs from us as Mzansi is our support. We cannot run away from the fact that at the moment he's been doing very well."

Mayo also shared his optimism that Bafana will secure all three points against Ethiopia on Tuesday.

"They will win," Mayo added. "If they can get a win away to Ethiopia then what can stop them from winning at home? They managed to win against all odds in Ethiopia. We are expecting a positive result and expect nothing less than a win."

Bafana Bafana welcome Ethiopia to the FNB Stadium in a 2022 World Cup qualifier.

Kick-off is at 18:00.
