Manchester United to offer struggling duo new deals

Manchester United are reportedly ready to offer new contracts to two stars who have recently struggled to earn regular game time at Old Trafford.

Since Ralf Rangnick was appointed as interim manager in November 2021, a number of first-team stars who regularly featured under former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have seemingly dropped down the pecking order.

Some of those players include the British trio of Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who appear to have lost their places in the club's strongest XI to Anthony Elanga, Alex Telles and Diogo Dalot, respectively.

As such, reports have emerged suggesting that Rashford is looking to leave the Theatre of Dreams, while Shaw recently hinted in an interview that he was unhappy at Old Trafford.

However, despite the speculation around them, the Red Devils' hierarchy has decided to push ahead with contract renewal talks for both Rashford and Shaw, per ESPN.

The duo are reportedly still viewed as key members of the squad, despite Rangnick currently preferring other options ahead of them.

Both players' contracts are set to expire at the end of the 2022/23 campaign, and Arsenal are said to be monitoring Rashford's situation with a view to potentially making a move for the forward.

With United looking to bounce back from their UEFA Champions League exit at the hands of Atletico Madrid before the international break, Rangnick could rely on the pair in their Premier League tie against Leicester City on Saturday.

Currently sixth on the EPL table, a win over Brendan Rodgers' Foxes could go a long way in helping secure the Red Devils UCL football for next season.
