Striker Alvaro Morata endured a drama-filled Euros that went from penalty misses and death threats to becoming Spain's all-time leading scorer at the tournament, surpassing Fernando Torres' tally of five strikes with his sixth goal in the competition on Tuesday.
The Juventus attacker also managed to equal a record held by club teammate Ronaldo in becoming only the second player to score three or more goals in multiple Euros, with the Portugal star having managed this feat across three separate tournaments.
In the semi-final against Italy on Tuesday, the Spain star came off the bench to score a crucial equaliser that forced the game into extra-time after calmly placing the ball past Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma following a quick interchange with Dani Olmo.
The night was far from over for the former Real Madrid forward, though, as he missed an important penalty in the shootout that followed, with his country eventually making a semi-final exit.
Morata finished Euro 2020 as Spain's top goalscorer with three goals.
