England progressed to their first-ever European Championship final, where they will face Italy, with a 2-1 extra-time victory over Denmark at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday evening.
England settled into the game the quicker of the two sides and were the side making more of the early play, but it was Denmark who had the better of the early opportunities.
With 16 minutes gone, Kalvin Phillips was dispossessed by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who ran at the England defence and drilled one low and hard towards goal but Pickford made the save.
Ten minutes later, Harry Kane lost possession to Jannik Vestergaard and the Southampton centre-back played in Mikkel Damsgaard, who cut inside from the left and tried to curl one into the far corner with his effort only going narrowly wide of the post.
However, it was the Danes took the lead in the 29th minute, as the highly-rated Damsgaard stepped up and curled a superb free-kick over the English wall and into the top right-corner past the despairing dive of Jordan Pickford.
However, Bukayo Saka was having a significant impact on proceedings. First, he played Harry Kane in down the right, who squared for Raheem Sterling, but his effort was brilliantly saved at point-blank range by Kasper Schmeichel.
And then the Arsenal starlet made the assist for the equaliser in the 39th minute. This time, Kane returned the favour, playing him in down the right and he squared the ball into the box with Simon Kjaer putting the ball into his own net.

Schmeichel produced some heroics after the break to deny Harry Maguire when he rose highest to meet Mason Mount's cross with a header that took a slight delfection on its way to goal as the Leicester City goalkeeper made a terrific save to keep the scores level.
Ten minutes from time, Kalvin Phillips seized on to a loose ball outside the box and drilled a low strike towards the net, which went narrowly wide of the right-hand post, as the sides could not be separated in regular time and so the match went to extra-time.
The Danes were tiring in extra time and England were swarming all over them and were rewarded with a penalty shortly before half-time of extra-time when Sterling ran at the Danes' defence down the right-hand side of the box before being clipped by Maehle.
Kane stepped up and his penalty was saved by Schmeichel down to his left but the Three Lions captain pounced on the rebound and buried the ball into the back of an empty net, which proved to be the winning goal on the night.
