With The Golden Boy trophy issued by Italian publication Tuttosport, it's historical value holds plenty of weight, given that it was introduced back 17 years ago and voted for by some of the biggest publications in Europe.
The inaugural award was picked up by Netherlands legend Rafael van Der Vaar and over the years, the likes of Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney and Sergio Aguero all won the title before developing into global superstars.

While Foster faces up against the likes of Ansu Fati, Erling Haaland, Jadon Sancho, Mason Greenwood, Alphonso Davies and Vinicius Jr this year, his nomination alone is testament to his incredible potential.
A decade of the greatest talents
Over the past 10 years, some of football's greatest talents earned the right to be called the 'Golden Boy', with Manchester United club-record signing Paul Pogba amongst them.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner was crowned in 2013 after a breakout season with Juventus, whom he joined on a free transfer after leaving United.

However, he revived his career in Turin before Jose Mourinho lured him back to the Theatre of Dream for a then world-record €105-million transfer in 2016.
Compatriot Kylian Mbappe, now only 21, is another who's shot to superstardom in recent times. Widely considered as the heir to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo's dominance of the Ballon d'Or, Mbappe won the U-21 award in 2017.
He was controversially snubbed for a nomination in 2018, despite winning the World Cup, with organisers claiming he had outgrown the award, in which it was subsequently won by Juventus and Netherlands defender Matthijs de Ligt.
