Paez had attended the match with his daughter, but shortly after leaving the stadium, his car was stopped by two assailants riding a motorcycle, who proceeded to shoot him several times, according to Marca

His daughter survived the incident, escaping unharmed, and Colombian authorities are continuing their investigating into the murder, the motive for which is not yet clear.

According to reports, the 63-year-old was taken to a local clinic, but attempts to save his life there were sadly unsuccessful after bullets hit him in his chest, neck and skull.

"The Tigres family and the sporting community are devastated by this event," the club said in a statement, per ESPN.

"His commitment to the team and his dedication to the development of the sport in our region left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him."
