The report claims that contact has already taken place between club president Mahmoud El-Khatib and the board members, where the all agreed on the request.

"The request for foreign referees for the match is not up for discussion, and it will be adhered to no matter what happens," the source told Kooora.

Al Ahly are eager to avoid any costly mistakes in the big game following Pyramids late winner against Smouha.

The same Egyptian publication claimed that Smouha are set to make an official complaint after they felt the goal should not have been awarded.

"There is an official complaint that will be submitted to the Egyptian Federation, attaching all the referees' mistakes against the team this season." the source said.

"We will demand the dismissal of the referees committee and an investigation into what happened in the Pyramids match after an incorrect goal was counted and a penalty kick was overlooked in our favour."
