Seema confirms Sekhukhune intentions

Sekhukhune United coach Lehlohonolo Seema views the Nedbank Cup as a genuine chance to land the first piece of silverware of his coaching career.

Seema has surpassed a decade in the coaching trenches, starting out at Bloemfontein Celtic, then having spells at Chippa United, Black Leopards, Golden Arrows, Polokwane City, and now Sekhukhune but is yet to lift silverware.

The start of the Nedbank Cup provides the perfect opportunity for Seema, whose team welcomes Cape Town City to the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium (19:00).

"Whenever we are going to a cup competition, we want to make sure that we are in (it) to win it," says Seema.

"As a coach, I haven't gotten a gold medal as a coach, so the club and the technical members are all into winning it.

"It is only Kaitano Tembo who has won (trophies).

"We really want to win it.

"It is going to be a difficult five games, but we always want to go out there and win it," says Seema, whose team will have another opportunity on the continent via the Nedbank Cup.

"Whenever the season starts, we are competing to finish as high as possible and for us, we were a bit disappointed to be knocked out in the first round (CAF Confederation Cup).

"We really want to be consistent because we have seen that (playing on the continent) is helping a lot in all aspects.

"We don't think about playing in Africa now when the Nedbank Cup draw is done but rather before the first game of the season starts.

"It is always in our minds that we have to consistently be playing such kind of competitions," he adds.
