Real Madrid's Gareth Bale 'very close' to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo claims Premier League star

Bale, 29, joined Real for a then world-record €101m deal from Tottenham but has often been accused of not living up to his potential due to his injury problems since his arrival.

Despite his troubles to remain on the pitch, the Welsh wizard has won 11 major honours, including four UEFA Champions League titles, while netting a credible 93 goals in 201 games

And Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen has now claimed that The Dragons all-time record goalscorer is catching up to the level of Ronaldo and Messi - ahead of Wale's Nations League clash with Denmark.

"He has been playing at Real Madrid for a long time now and he has done very well there. Even to ask the question about how he compares to Messi or Ronaldo shows he is up there.

"Bale is someone who can always give them something extra. He does it in any team he plays for.

"He is very quick, very direct, and he is always guaranteed for a few goals. International football is all about getting goals, and he does that."
