My Dream Team: Teboho Mokoena

In this edition of My Dream Team, former Bafana Bafana star Teboho Mokoena picked his best 11 best players who he played alongside in his successful football career.

The former Jomo Cosmos man mentions the legendary Jomo Sono as the suitable coach for his dream team.

Formation

"4-5-1. I'm going to need five in the midfield, we want those who are playing on the sides to be mobile, and we will be using a lone striker.

"And we will use two central midfielders. One of them will be stationery."

Goalkeeper

"Avril Phali. He is our main man. I've won cups playing with this one. He never got exposed. It's just that we played for a team like Cosmos, hence people couldn't see enough of our matches. But still, we rated him very highly."

Defenders

"Teboho Maphaleng will be my right-back. He was my teammate at Jomo Cosmos. Both he and my left-back Brian Sebapole are something else, they can overlap and come back to assist at the back. They both have stamina.

"Lucas Radebe will play centre-back, very experienced. He will guide Aaron Mokoea. Aaron will do the marking, and Radebe will just guide him."

Midfielders

"In the middle, I will have Macbeth Sibaya, you need to play closer to him because he couldn't make long passes, he could only play short passes. He is my best midfielder.

"I will pair Sibaya with Innocent Ntsume. It's a pity he couldn't reach his full potential. He marks, he distributes, and he's got the vision. Even though he is a destroyer, he could also attack.

"On the right it's Sibusiso 'Rhee' Zuma - ball control, attacking-wise, he had it all. He was my teammate at Bafana Bafana for a long time.

"On the left-hand side,, I put Sipho Sephadi. He is good when it comes to defending, attacking, and penetrating in the middle of the field.

"Godfrey Sapula will be my number 10. He could enter the opposition box easily. It was difficult to track his movements."

Strikers

"My lone striker upfront is Tico Tico Bucuane. We used to call him 'Slowly but Surely', we could read each other's moves and intentions with only our eyes. It's a pity most of Jomo Cosmos games weren't televised."

Coach

"Who else can it be? The one and only Jomo Sono. I liked him a lot, he didn't complicate things. His instructions were clear."
