Ex-Big Three players arrive at new PSL club

Marumo Gallants have lined up three players formerly with Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns as they seek to strengthen their squad for the remainder of the season.

Marumo – who are due to play a friendly against Orlando Pirates on Wednesday – have brought in Thamsanqa Sangweni for an assessment.

Sangweni terminated his contract with GladAfrica Championship club TS Sporting after a short stay during which he played eight games.

The 32-year-old brings vast experience having played for both Pirates and Sundowns in the past while he has also played for Amazulu, Chippa United, Ajax Cape Town, Maritzburg United and Richards Bay in the long list of clubs that he has been with.

Ali Tlhoaele, his representative, confirms the presence of Sangweni at Marumo along with Itumeleng Shopane – formerly with Kaizer Chiefs.

Shopane was most recently at Pretoria Callies but is among the numerous players that have left the club.

Marumo are also assessing Lucky Mohomi after an unsuccessful stay with Venda FC in the first division.

He only played six games at Venda – under Johnny Ferreira – highlighting that he battled with the pace of the game in the league.

Mohomi also struggled through his time at Sundowns before moving to SuperSport United.
