Samuel Eto'o is now said to have shortlisted Kaizer Chiefs-linked manager Jose Peseiro (left) for the Cameroon job.

One of the managers linked with the Kaizer Chiefs job is now said to have been wanted by Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) president Samuel Eto'o.

The Cameroonian FA currently finds itself riddled in controversy following its outraged reaction to the appointment of new national team coach Marc Brys by the country's government.

From a FIFA regulatory perspective, the Eto'o-led opposition of the decision has legs as the world football organising body prohibits government interference in the running of national football associations.

Eto'o and company are aggrieved that they were not consulted over who the next Indomitable Lions manager would be, and claimed they only found out about Brys' appointment at the same as the rest of people in Cameroon, during a national television broadcast.

Moreover, FECAFOOT also wrote a letter to the government complaining that their proposed list of candidates was completely ignored, one that did not include Brys.

According to French outlet Le Monde, Eto'o's list of preferred candidates for the role comprised two-time Africa Cup of Nations winner Herve Renard, former Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro, and recently departed Nigeria coach Jose Peseiro.

Peseiro, who has also been linked with the Amakhosi job, would have been paid €1.5 million (R30 million) per annum if he had been chosen as coach of the Indomitable Lions, per All Nigeria Soccer.

Brys, meanwhile, has remained quiet on FECAFOOT's objection to his appointment, but recently revealed that he is aware of the controversy around it.

"I know what's going on. I am not blind. I've seen a lot of things and. yes, it interests me a lot," the Belgian tactician said, according to CamFoot.

"I am available to speak with FECAFOOT and the Ministry of Sports."
