Throwback Thursday: James Madidilane looks back at his career and reveals PSL wish

Former Bloemfontein Celtic right-back James Madidilani has described how the life of a footballer is totally different to that of a coach.

Madidilani was recently called-up to be the assistant coach of the Lesotho national team after impressing with Bantu Football Club. He has dreams of one day coaching in the PSL.

"When you are a player people will see you now and then and scream and all that, you are in newspapers. [But] as a coach you are like a bit reserved. There's no more that attention to you as a coach, one game you will be credited and the next game people will be complaining.

"But it's part of the game. My ambition is to see myself in the PSL but I'm not rushing it. Maybe in five years time, or 10 years time, but now I would love to work with people who have been there, maybe as an assistant.  I have to be closer to there to aget more experience from the likes of your Clinton Larsen, Steve Komphela and so forth, so that when they step down at least I can step up."

Madidilani, who has worked as an assistant at Roses and in the Celtic development, says he only has one regret in his football career.

"Moving from Celtic to Durban I think it's one thing that I would say I regret but at that time I had to, you understand? My career started going down."

Madidilani says his biggest salary he got was at Thanda Royal Zulu.

"I enjoyed my football at Celtic because that's where I spent three years with the team. We won the SAA Super 8 with Celtic. My biggest salary was at Thanda because I moved from R25 000 to R28 000 at Thanda, it was R28 000 in 2009. I was able to save to be quite honest."
