Chiefs issues persist as 'tough' Stellies loom

Kaizer Chiefs might have gone back to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over over Magesi FC on Tuesday, but criticism surrounding the team has continued to persist.

The Soweto giants have shown inconsistency so far this term, as evidence by their eighth placing on the Betway Premiership standings.

Nasreddine Nabi's men have won eight, drawn four and lost eight up to this point, and with 10 league matches remaining, pressure is on to ensure Chiefs finish among the top four.

"One minute we are playing well, and the next we are playing very poorly," notes club legend Gardner Seale.

"That's not right. It's time we decide where we stand.

"Some of the players who started against [Mamelodi] Sundowns were nowhere to be seen in the line-up against Magesi. What does that say about us? Chopping and changing a team just because you lost last week doesn't make sense to me.

"It's not like we played badly against Sundowns. We needed to build from there and work on our defending and shooting skills.

"We can't just be satisfied with three points. Immediately after a win, we need to focus on securing the next three points," he adds.

The former left-back fears at the rate the line-up has been tampered with from game to game by the technical team, more of the same is to be expected against Stellenbosch FC in the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals on Saturday.

"It's going to be tougher against Stellenbosch.

"I prefer pacey strikers like Ashley Du Preez. No defender enjoys facing such players. I admit he had a poor performance against Sundowns, but that doesn't mean he is a bad player."
