Tito & Pirates reap the benefits of Spanish pre-season

Orlando Pirates star Patrick 'Tito' Maswanganyi has revealed the "boost" that his side will get from their pre-season preparation in Spain.

The Buccaneers will take on Wayne Rooney's Plymouth Argyle at the Banus Football Center in Marbella, Spain on Friday night before facing LALIGA side Sevilla at their training ground Ramon Cisneros Palacios Ciudad Deportiva on Monday 15 July.

To round up the three-match tour, the Soweto side will lock horns with Qatar Stars League outfit Al Sadd SC on 19 July, which will also be played in Spain.

As part of their preparations for the 22/23 campaign, Pirates also spent some time in Europe so this will be nothing new for most of the players who are in the squad.

One such player is Tito who, speaking to broadcaster Thomas Mlambo, highlighted how his side seeks to benefit from some action away from the continent.

"As you can see, we are in Spain, trying to improve ourselves," Maswanganyi said.

"Playing against the best so we can come back to the country very strong this time."

"I think it helps a lot [in making a difference to the season]," he added.

"I think in terms of mentality as well, I think it gives you, the confidence to play your own football.

"Also to learn a lot more from different countries as well. Also the teams from different sides.

"You learn different stuff (like) Style of play.

"When you contribute that to the style of play of Orlando Pirate, it gives you that boost to showcase that you can do it as well."
