In our latest feature of Where Are They Now, KickOff catches up with former Orlando Pirates and Bloemfontein Celtic star Patrick Malokase.
The former left-winger won the Absa (DStv) Premiership with the Buccaneers in the 2010/2011 Season.
Who am I?
"Patrick Malokase is from Thaba Nchu in the Free State, I played for four teams in the PSL.
"I started at Free State Stars, then moved to Celtic, Orlando Pirates, and retired at Platinum Stars.
"Winning the treble at Orlando Pirates was my biggest achievement in football. The league and two cup competitions.
"I was on loan when they did it for the second time."
My playing days...
"I'm very happy with my playing days, I enjoyed every moment, I don't have any regrets.
"My playing days opened doors for me, even today I'm able to plow back through football."
Did I make money from soccer?
"To be honest, No. I did not make money from soccer. In our days a Man Of The Match was rewarded with R2 500. Nowadays it's R100 000.
"I played football because it was my first love. I prepared myself very well for life after football because I knew I was not going to make any money."
Where I'm living?
"I'm now based in Bloemfontein, I'm happily married with three children. My firstborn is a 16-year-old boy who enjoys his football."
Jobs since playing the game?
"I have worked with a group of guys in an electronics company, we've parted ways amicably and I've started my own entities I'm currently running with my wife."
My current job?
"I'm self-employed. I'm doing part-time coaching at Grey College, which is where my son attends. I'm also with C.U.T. and fortunately, we have qualified for the Varsity Cup."
If I could do it again?
"I wouldn't change anything, football has been good to me. It has helped me to learn a lot.
"At the moment I'm still in football to make sure that the youngsters are well nurtured."
