Barcelona news: Luis Suarez comments on Lionel Messi's Barca future

Earlier this month, reports from Spain suggested that Messi is considering leaving Barcelona when his contract expires at the end of next season after reportedly growing disillusioned with the way the club is being run, and with the way he has been treated in recent times.

The Argentina superstar has spent his entire professional career with Barca, and has become the club's all-time leading goalscorer with 630 goals, but could now be set to leave in 12 months' time if reports prove accurate.

Suarez, who himself has climbed to third place on Barca's all-time top scorers chart, has partnered Messi at the spear of the club's attack since 2014, and the Uruguay international has now shared his thoughts on the prospect of parting ways with his fellow South American.

"The decision Leo makes is going to be made always thinking about his and his family's benefit," the Uruguayan said, per Forbes.

"Sometimes we all feel bad because we lose and we are letting a LaLiga [title] escape, and there are times when you think about anything.

"But being his friend, I will always recommend that he is where he feels comfortable and happy, and if he is happy in Barcelona, [then] keep him in Barcelona. If he needs a change, he will know what he needs for him and for his wellbeing."
