The France international, who could be forgiven for expecting even fewer opportunities than last season with the arrival of Lacazette, is an ideal partner for Arsene Wenger's new signing, if the correct formation is employed, says Garde.
As proof, the French manager who worked with Lacazette between 2011 and 2014, cited a similar partnership that was used successfully at during his time at Les Gones.
"Olivier and Alexandre are two different players that Arsene needs," the 51-year old told France Football.
"The seasons are long and the aims are high for a club like Arsenal. To have these two players at his disposal is not too much, and it is possible to put them both in the same XI.
"The proof, at Lyon, is that Alex and Bafe [Gomis] played alongside each other at Lyon with me. We got the balance right by playing a diamond midfield.
"That is something that Arsene could do with these two players. Alex is a player who is sufficiently intelligent to adapt to that, Olivier Giroud too," the former Aston Villa boss added.
Despite rumours linking him to West Ham and Everton, Giroud has given no indication that he intends to leave and could well be considering how the imminent sale of Alexis Sanchez could also have a positive effect on his standing at the Emirates.
In fact, the 30-year old hitman even went as far as stating his desire to remain in North London, telling the club's official website that he wishes to be seen as a 'loyal warrior' by the Gunners' supporters.
