Liverpool transfer news: Mario Gotze opens door to Jurgen Klopp reunion in Premier League

Borussia Dortmund playmaker Mario Gotze has opened the door for a potential reunion with Jurgen Klopp at European champions Liverpool.

Gotze, 27, will leave Dortmund at the end of the current season upon the expiry of his contract, according to Sport Bild.

And the playmaker, who scored the 2014 FIFA World Cup final winning goal and once the poster boy of German football is teasing over potential a move to England.

With his second stint at Dortmund not reaching the heights of his breakout under Klopp after he graduated from the club's academy in 2009, Gotze admits he's still holding close contact with the Reds boss.

"I'm still in touch with Jurgen," Gotze told DAZN. "At that time, I was just 17 and coming up from the youth team.

"He taught me everything about professional football. He let me play. I often speak to Klopp. We never stopped talking.

"He knows me very well and that I am always looking for new challenges."

Gotze has scored 57 goals and registered 61 assists in 227 games over the past decade in the Bundesliga.
