Mamelodi Sundowns' Anthony Laffor wants to play without thinking about contract issues

The Liberian international’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season, but he is not too focused on that at the moment. Laffor, who joined the Brazilians from Tshwane rivals SuperSport United in 2012, is focused on getting more game-time after overcoming a frustrating time on the sidelines due to knee and hamstring injuries.

After missing all of Sundowns’ Absa Premiership matches in the first half of the season, Laffor has featured in the starting line-up for both the side’s league encounters in 2019 against Kaizer Chiefs and Maritzburg United, scoring once in the 2-1 victory over Amakhosi.

“I don’t pay attention to contract issues. I have a management team that’s working on that for me. I want to play football. For me I got a few more months on my contract with Sundowns and I am happy.

“I am working. I don’t think I am under pressure. The day my manager calls and tells me something, then fine. For now I want to play football.”

Laffor could get another opportunity to start when Sundowns take on Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca in their second CAF Champions League group game, at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday.
