Thendo Mukumela attracts Orlando Pirates, Baroka, Sekhukhune United interest

According to a source, Pirates, Baroka FC and Sekhukhune United have approached Cape Town Spurs for Limpopo-born centre-back Thendo Mukumela.

The 23-year-old started in two of three Olympic matches under coach David Notoane in Tokyo, where South Africa were dumped out at the group stages.

Mukumela is an Ajax Cape Town development product who joined Mamelodi Sundowns in July 2015 before getting demoted to the reserve side in July 2016.

In August 2017 he returned to the Sundowns senior team, but that too lasted only a year as he rejoined Ajax – now known as Spurs – in August 2018.

"Three PSL clubs are interested in the boy [Mukumela]. Orlando Pirates, Sekhukhune and Baroka have all approached his current club," a source tells this website.

"You know how Pirates like talented youngsters with potential. Spurs are willing to release the boy, provided all interested parties meet all their demands."

This publication understands that Spurs have also received an offer left-back Cohen Stander from an unnamed club.

Spurs could not be reached for comment at the time of publishing.
