Swallows FC have moved swiftly and activated the options for two of their players ahead of the 2021/22 season.
Striker Daniel Gozar and left-back Thabo Matlaba have extended their contracts at Swallows with a further season.
According to a reliable source, the 29-year-old Ghanaian approached the club and asked for an improved contract but the Soweto-based side opted to activate the option instead.
"Gozer's camp is currently talking to the club. There are a few things they wanted to make changes on, but he is staying," says the source.
"At the moment, his camp is still waiting for the team to come back to them, guessing not knowing the club has already made its decision."
Swallows CEO Sipho Xulu said it was not true that Gozer and Matlaba have signed new contracts, reaffirming instead that they only triggered existing options in their initial contracts.
"No, I'm not aware of that [Gozer asking for an improved contract]. What I know is that Gozer is one of the players we signed and added an option, of which we are now renewing," Xulu tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"I don't know anything about an improved contract. The club still needs him, he is one of the players that the club is activating their options.
"As for Matlaba, he has not signed as such but he is also one of the players we've activated our option on. The option is for another year."
