Speaking in an exclusive interview with this website, 'Zizou' as Zongo is affectionately known sounded optimistic about the future that lies ahead of his football career.

"In life I can say everyone deserve a chance regardless of how many chances they can give you," Zongo tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"What I am trying to say is that I didn't kill anyone. It's just my mistakes are not on the field of play but off the field of play. That's why I disappeared, to sort out my life.

"I am privileged that I met someone like Ba2Cada. I am thankful to him for trying to help me. Now I am here in Daveyton to play football and try to get back to fitness, and come January I don't start from scratch.

"I appreciate the comments from the people during the interview you did with Junior Khanye on snl24.com/kickoff."

The former South Africa under-20 star reveals that he has also been busy with studies during his time in the wilderness.

"I was training on my own. I was also trying to do a course in Sport Management because I was groomed by two teachers, my mom and dad.

"They forced me to go back to school so that I can try to balance things I do in life and also have something to fall back on after my football career," he explains.

Zongo promises his soccer fans that he will bounce back in great style and sets year 2020 as the one in which he will revive his career.

"They are going to see a new Zongo. It's a matter of time," he says.

"I want to thank all those people who have not given up on me, especially my family and the few people who still communicate with me. May God bless them."
