Sundowns wasted opportunities in a 2-0 loss in the quarter-finals in Osaka, Japan on Sunday.
Pitso Mosimane's men will now contest the fifth/sixth place playoff against Korean side Jeonbuk Hyundai on Wednesday. Kick-off is at 09h30 SA time.
Modise told his official website: "Look it was sad that we lost. We obviously did not want to come here and lose. We played against a good team that deserves to be here as much as we do. Luck was just not on our side with the game being of two halves.
"They got chances and they scored and that is football at the end of the day. But I believe that the experience will go a long way in giving the players and the technical stuff credit in their CVs. Not only that but this may also show all South Africans that a lot is possible if we work hard and believe.
"Can you imagine if this was something all the PSL teams constantly participate in year in and out? It would sky rocket the value of our league and quality of football in our country. This is a learning curve for all of us."
