Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane would "easily recommend Tokelo Rantie"

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says he would not hesitate to give Tokelo Rantie a good recommendation should a club want to sign the striker immediately.

Rantie has been with Sundowns since pre-season, trying to win a contract with the defending Absa Premiership champions. Mosimane has recently come out in media interviews to say Rantie should be patient and not rush to get a deal before the transfer window closes at the end of August, because he is a free agent.

While he is willing to give the former Bournemouth striker an opportunity to play for Sundowns, he also would not hesitate to give him a good recommendation should any other club want to secure his signature.

"I said we should allow TK to go through the process and we should not put him under pressure and he should not put himself under pressure, because if he says 'are you signing me or not?, then I'll say 'I'm not sure'. Why? Because the guy has spent two years without playing football.

"He is looking good and he has looked after himself. I think you saw his physique that he shed a lot of weight. That shows he is serious. This is a guy who was playing English Premier League, where Percy [Tau] does not even have a chance to play. It's not easy at Sundowns because he is up against Maboe, Affonso, sometimes we play Phaka [Mahlambi] as a striker, sometimes we play Thapelo or Vila as striker.

"I also said to people who are helping him, if there's any team that's ready to sign him now, I'd easily recommend that Tokelo Rantie is the guy. But he needs time, support…he needs game time. And I don't know if Sundowns will give him so many chances to play."
