Lebohang 'Cheeseboy' Mokoena is loving being back at Orlando Pirates

The 29-year-old left Mamelodi Sundowns at the end of June and has been training with the club’s juniors at Mayfair to keep himself fit while he looks for a new club.

The much-loved winger has been training under the watchful eye of Bucs’ development coach Augusto Palacios.

“Most of the youngsters are from 19 years of age and most are playing in the MDC [MultiChoice Diski League], so it’s nice to rub shoulders with some of them and just share a little bit of my experience.

“At the same time, I’m also getting to do my own pre-season,” Mokoena tells snl24.com/kickoff.

“Most of them are boys from Soweto and I grew up there as well, so most of the challenges they face, I was once there. So it’s all about encouragement.”

Mokoena says he sees a bright future in many of the young Bucs players.

“We had a talk on my first day when I arrived here. Palacios told me to speak to the boys concerning development, how we grew up at that time and how at one stage we had about eight development players playing in the senior team,” he concluded.
