Du Preez, who arrived from Stellenbosch FC last month, will have big shoes, or indeed sleeves to fill in the famous shirt which has been worn by some of the club's most prolific players in recent season.

Nurkovic, who was the most recent to wear the No. 9 jersey, scored 21 times in 78 appearances during his three-year spell with Chiefs, which included 14 in 31 games during his barnstorming maiden campaign with the club.
Prior to that, it was worn by Gustavo Páez – who also once wore the No. 28. The Venezuelan forward scored 10 times in 53 games during his two years with Chiefs before returning to his homeland in 2019.
Togolese striker Camaldine Abraw scored six goals in 28 games during the 2015/16 season before being rocked a long-term knee injury that ultimately brought an end to his promising spell with the club.
Before him, fan-favourite Josta Dladla entertained fans in over 100 matches for Chiefs between 2009 and 2015 after being handed the number by Jose Torrealba, who was a star turn in the Amakhosi line-up following his arrival from rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.

Ivorian striker Serge Djiéhoua preceded him but faced the impossible task of replacing Collins Mbesuma, who just the season before had scored a PSL-record 25 goals to win the Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot award.
