Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt praises Paseka Sekese after loss to Kaizer Chiefs

Sekese made a number of key tackles in the centre of the park to keep the likes of Reneilwe Letsholonyane, George Maluleka and Siphiwe Tshabalala at bay, before eventually being substituted in the 75th minute for the more attack-minded Sibusiso Vilakazi.

Hunt saluted the MultiChoice Diski Challenge graduate, who recently bagged his maiden Absa Premiership goal in their 5-0 win over Polokwane City, following a commanding display in his full professional debut.

“Paseka was magnificent. I thought he was fantastic tonight; I thought he was our best player,” said Hunt amid the frustration of the defeat to Chiefs.

Meanwhile, Hunt declined to comment further on the officiating of referee Victor Gomes and argued that Chiefs would never have scored from open play.

“We were on the front foot; we were bright; we were fresh; we were very good… What must I say? What must I say? I mean, they would never have scored… Never have scored, no chance,” he added.

“From open play, never… There was only one way they were going to score… Well two ways [a free-kick or penalty] … I thought it was coming.”

The defeat now leaves Wits six points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who will play their game in hand against Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium tonight.

Mpumalanga Black Aces could return to second place on the table at Wits' expense should they win at Ajax Cape Town this evening.
