Galaxy bounce back to end AmaZulu's winning streak

TS Galaxy jumped to tenth spot on the Betway Premiership table with a 1-0 win over AmaZulu on Saturday afternoon.

There were no changes from Usuthu following the victory over Richards Bay FC, as the host banked on in-form striker Dzenan Zajmovic.

Zajmovic looked to continue his scoring run of form just over ten minutes played with a snap shot from the area following a scramble, but went safely into the hands of Richard Ofori.

Etiosa Ighodaro seek to go one better at the other end with a surging header following a cross in the box, but caused no trouble whatsoever to opposing Ira Tape.

Limited forward ventures by the respective sides were on show thereafter, as the quest to break the deadlock continued to elude them.

Usuthu were looking to find way in just moments before halftime when a rasping left-footed strike from the area by Hendrick Ekstein led to a strong defensive-block.

A substitution by the home team ahead of the second period saw Kamogelo Sebelebele come on for veteran Lindokuhle Mbatha to inject some pace into the attack.

Both teams didn't show a lot of each other afterwards but the host looked to go ahead as a promising strike by Sphiwe Mahlangu sailed narrowly wide.

With little inspiration either side and the tempo of play dropping, the Rockets turned to the bench in the last 15 minutes to bring on Puso Dithejane for Zajmovic.

It worked to the home side's favour when an awkwardly worked cutback on the byline from Victor Letsoalo for Dithejane, who volleyed into the roof of the net.

Usuthu aimed to draw level a little later on but the host tracked back to clear their lines as well as maintain the advantage.

The Rockets then ensured the win to move in towards the top eight bracket, with Usuthu dropping closer to the bottom-two.
