Magesi FC remain winless in the Betway Premiership following a last-gasp 1-1 draw against AmaZulu on Saturday afternoon.
Goalkeeper Richard Ofori, Nkosikhona Radebe, and Minenhle Ngcobo were restored to the Usuthu starting line-up, while Kgothatso Mariba came in as the sole change for Magesi after replacing Mcedisi Vandala.
Zungu, who made his debut midweek against Golden Arrows, looked to register his first goal with a free-kick on seven minutes but went over the top.
Usuthu made the opening ten minutes later when a goalkeeping error by Elvis Chipezeze allowed Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya to step and fired in a gaping net.
The visitors were slow coming out of the box but staged a strong end to the half through Wonderboy Makhubu and Kgothatso Mariba, but it didn’t lead to a goal.
Magesi turned to the bench in search of a comeback and withdrew Thabang Sibanyoni for Edmore Chirambadare before installing Samuel Darpoh for Tlou Masegela.
The changes intensified their momentum minutes later and nearly resulted in the equaliser when a teasing shot around the area by Zungu flew inches wide.
Arthur Zwane’s men had to face more pressure soon thereafter as Delano Abrahams charged in to the edge of the area to work a shot, but his effort was blocked as time started to run out.
Zwane decided to hold onto their lead and brought on Bongani Zungu, Wandile Dube and Mondli Mbanjwa ahead of the final whistle.
The decision worked against them as the host levelled in the final minute when John Mokone headed in from a cross into the area, sealing a point for the Limpopo outfit.
