Ajax have been fighting the ongoing Tendai Ndoro case in court since April 3, losing three decisions and are currently on the verge of hearing the verdict of a fourth.
Despite their previous setbacks, Efstathiou has been adamant on taking the matter further and, with judgement from Judge Denise Fisher expected some time this week, is prepared to go even further should the outcome not go in their favour.
“When you think you need justice, you must fight until the end. If you give in then you don’t believe in it as you say, do you?” Efstathiou tells snl24.com/kickoff.
“I don’t think we were treated correctly [in the SAFA arbitration hearing], I really don’t. It’s an unprecedented punishment [by Advocate William Mokhari SC] – it’s never been done before, so as long as you believe there’s justice you fight till the end.”
Should The Urban Warriors fail in their bid to have Adv. Mokhatri’s ruling reversed by Judge Fisher of the South Gauteng High Court, the club will then have the option of going to the Supreme Court of Appeals or alternatively turn to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
With these likely to add further cost implications for the Mother City-based outfit, Efstathiou has emphasised that money is a small matter in their fight for justice, while also stating that their mother club in Amsterdam are fully supportive of their cause.
“Money is always an issue, but what’s the point of burying your head in the sand with money in your pocket? I think you must fight for what you believe and then you find a solution,” he adds.
“We’re completely backed by Ajax Amsterdam. You know, it would be different if they weren’t behind us but they’re right behind us, and we must win this.”
