Timm highlights self-introspection in Swallows win

Orlando Pirates midfielder Miguel Timm believes a range of elements went behind their 2-0 win over Moroka Swallows in the DStv Premiership this werk.

Evidence Makgopa found the opener in the first half before an own goal from Sipho Sibiya in the second stanza ensured maximum points for the Buccaneers in the 'original Soweto Derby'.

"We're obviously happy for the victory, a lot of work was put into this performance. Self introspection is needed at times in difficult moments and we stick together," Timm said via the Pirates media department.

It hasn't been a smooth sailing league campaign for the Buccaneers, who before hosting the Dube Birds played to a lacklustre goalless draw against the bottom-two Richards Bay FC.

The inconsistent run of results hasn't deterred the Soweto giants but kept their heads high with the backing of the supporters as the campaign heads into full swing.

"We still believe in big things and we are going to continue to fight. This is the example of the efforts we put in in preparation for this game and as always, the best supporters are here to rally behind us," Timm said.

The midfielder admits their Achilles heel much of the season has been the decision-making, but was pleased to contribute to the win and wants more coming their way.

"I think it's a sign of belief and believe of what we are doing, I don't think we've changed much in what we have done in the previous games like you said a lack of goals maybe but we continue to get there in the final third and maybe a lack of good decision-making.

"But tonight (we were) very clinical and all-round good defensive and attacking display. Happy to contribute to the team's performance and hopefully more victories on the way," Timm said.

Having made a smooth transition to the club since arriving last season, Timm has accumulated 17 appearances in all competitions so far this term with no goals or assists yet.
