Malokase issue free advice to Makhaula

Former Orlando Pirates player Patrick Malokase has issued some words of advice to the club's forgotten midfielder Makhehleni Makhaula regarding his uncertain future at the club.

The 34-year-old defensive midfielder has only seen four appearances in all competitions so far this season and is being linked with a move away from the Soweto giants.

"I'm not sure how is he training, how is he relating to the team, the coach, and the management, those things play a part in a player's performance," Malokase tells KickOff.

"But without a doubt, he is a good player and a hard worker I must say. I advise him to keep on working. I'm talking from experience having played for the same team before, I was not playing regularly in my second season at Pirates.

"I remember one time my teammate Benni McCarthy asked me why I was not getting game-time when I was not missing training sessions. My answer was, I only have control over what I do. I had no control over the coach's plans," he said.

"My hard work showed as soon as I was loaned out to Platinum Stars, I became a goalscorer after only six months. So not playing doesn't mean you are not a good player. It's just those minor aspects.

"Probably maybe Pirates is not Makhaula's type of team, maybe their style is not his style.

"But he must not lose heart, he must continue to work hard, and if he doesn't get an opportunity to move elsewhere, he must keep on working and remember that he didn't come to Pirates to be an ordinary player.

"When opportunity comes at Pirates he must take it with both hands. As players we need to learn to adjust to every system a coach might come up with."
