'I don't really know what happened' - Riveiro on Bucs' collapse

Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro says he doesn't know how his side lost control of the game against Stellenbosch after leading 2-0 with 20 minutes to play.

Pirates were 2-0 ahead before the hour-mark after a first-half penalty by Tapelo Xoki and another goal by Evidence Makgopa in the second stanza.

However, Stellies staged a comeback from the 69th minute, as Iqraam Rayners, Devon Titus and Andre de Jong scored three goals within eight minutes to clinch all the three points for Steve Barker's charges.

Riveiro says he does not know what happened in that eight-minute comeback by the Western Cape side but was adamant that it's unacceptable to give away all the three points after taking a two goal lead at home.

"That's the reality, nothing really happened, it was 2-0 after almost 70 minutes, I really need to analyse the actions isolated because suddenly we lost the control," Riveiro told SuperSport TV.

"In situations at least from my perspective on the bench we had the advantage to win the duels, to finish the situation in a different way but I don't really know what happened.

"We totally lost the control of the game. You cannot lose a match at home that you're leading 2-0 after 70 minutes, there's no excuses. We need to analyse what happened, correct it and move on.

The Spanish coach continued and reiterated that it's disappointing for them to give away a game like that.

"The game was under control, we had a couple of accidents, one in the first goal is in the throw in that we didn't defend well again, I think one of the players lost the verticality in the box, they couldn't clear the ball, a couple of wrong technical actions in the box," he went on.

"But it doesn't matter, it's 2-1, we have to take the ball again and try to control the game the way we did it in the first 70 minutes, we cannot just give the game away like we did in the last 20 minutes," he added.
