Riveiro: I'm with the football we've developed

Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro was delighted his side were able to pick up a victory on the road, which was only their second of the DStv Premiership season.

The Buccaneers went up to third in the DStv Premiership standings after a 2-1 win over Arrows, courtesy of goals by Patrick Maswanganyi and Kimvuidi.

The Soweto giants have struggled to get results away this season and Riveiro says he's pleased that they produced their best performance away this season.

"The second one in the league this season, we really have not had a good record in away games but today I think we played an optimal one, we started well," Riveiro told SuperSport TV.

"(But) we played a little bit too casual in one moment there in the first half when we conceded an easy penalty but I think the second-half, this is one of our best second-half this season, for sure away.

"In terms of control, proposal and intention, so I'm happy with the result but also happy with the football we developed today," he said.

The Spanish coach gave rare starts to Kimvuidi and Otladisa and in the second stanza had the fresh legs of the likes of Zakhele Lepasa and Thembinkosi Lorch.

"More than refreshing, we're playing every week now, one week per week more or less but we need as much players as possible feeling that they are close to being on the field, feeling like they are close to being in the starting XI," Riveiro explained.

"And the only way to do it, is sometimes giving the opportunity to the players who are performing well during the week, to understand and get used to playing for Pirates and make sure that little by little they are getting better," he added.
