Moses Mabhida Stadium riot case postponed, the SAPS has confirmed

Police arrested two persons related to the incident, which saw Kaizer Chiefs fans invade the pitch after the full-time whistle following Amakhosi's 2-0 Nedbank Cup semi-final defeat to Free State Stars.

The stadium was vandalised while security personnel were savagely attacked by the disillusioned Chiefs fans, who had also rioted at FNB Stadium a fortnight ago following the 3-0 Absa Premiership defeat to Chippa United.

South African Police Service spokesperson Nqobile Gwala has confirmed the suspects have been remanded to custody until Wednesday when the case will be heard.

"The case has been postponed to Wednesday. The suspected will remain in custody," Gwala tells snl24.com/kickoff.

Steve Komphela announced his resignation as Kaizer Chiefs head coach in the wake of the violence, with assistant Patrick Madebi named as interim coach for the final three league games of the season.
