Sundowns' hopes of a domestic double went up in smoke with a 3-1 defeat at Harry Gwala Stadium on Sunday, a day after a mob of Kaizer Chiefs fans turned Moses Mabhida Stadium into a war zone.
Chiefs' 2-0 loss to Free State Stars prompted a horde of supporters to attack security guards, start fires, smash broadcasting equipment and vandalise parts of the Durban-based venue.
Steve Komphela resigned as Glamour Boys coach in the aftermath following persistent calls for his head from the stands.
The PSL have since summoned the Soweto giants to appear before a disciplinary hearing on May 3 at 18h00.
Earlier this month Amakhosi fans also misbehaved after a 3-0 league loss to Chippa United, while Orlando Pirates were recently ordered to play two games behind closed door after fans went on the rampage after Bucs' 6-0 humbling by Downs last season.
Brazilians coach Mosimane is concerned that such behaviour is becoming commonplace.
He said: “I had my son coming over here. He’s here at Hilton College and he brought his buddies. In the morning I was thinking, ‘should I bring him or not?'. I also had my youngster and he’s always with me at the stadium. I’m happy he didn’t see these things that are happening.
“It becomes a culture now; when you lose everybody comes to the pitch and chases players and that. So what are you going to do about it? Probably if we get one match behind closed doors, it’s okay, we can do it.
“Probably Sundowns one day might do that and what are you going to do about it? It’s a trend now.”
Meanwhile, Maritzburg counterpart Fadlu Davids also condoned the unruly antics.
“Violence is not the way to go and really I can’t condone that behaviour. I don’t think for fans it is the right thing to vent their frustration in that way,” Davids said.
“It is not the way to do it. I want my to see my fans support the team and they’ve shown that. We have got good home team support and you can see how it erupted when we scored the goal [against Downs]. We had dominant numbers in support and that is what we want to create.”
