Chiefs will attend a PSL disciplinary hearing on May 3 after a horde of their supporters went on the rampage following a 2-0 loss to Free State Stars in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals on the weekend.
Fans couldn't handle the defeat, which condemned the Soweto giants to a third straight season without silverware under now departed coach Steve Komphela.
Hooligans invaded the pitch, attacked security guards, torched and vandalised sections of the venue and smashed broadcasting equipment in the absence of effective law enforcement.
With Komphela resigning straight after the game, Mabedi took charge of Chiefs' 3-1 league loss to Golden Arrows at Princess Magogo Stadium on Tuesday night.
There was a noticeable police presence in KwaMashu, although there were only 2000 fans in attendance as Abafana Bes'thende eased their relegation concerns against fourth-placed Amakhosi, who will be without Leonardo Castro for the rest of the season after he was sent off for a bad challenge on defender Matome Mathiane.
“I mean it happened very quickly and the way it happened you kind of like to say you are going to change everything because it happened quickly,” Mabedi told reporters.
“You just need to adapt and go on but I think it was traumatic to players because they were affected. But overall, I think we just need to accept what happened happened.
“What happened was disturbing but overall we need to get going. Although it affected us we just need to be positive and keep moving forward, because as I said, what happened happened.”
Pressed on whether the extent to which his charges were affected by the violent scenes, Mabedi said: “Not really affected because these are professional guys and I think they’ll be able to handle it.
“I think the way I saw things today they couldn’t think of what happened, they just need to move on.
“As professionals, they need to do their job.”
The Glamour Boys will host high-flying Maritzburg United at FNB Stadium on Saturday before concluding their campaign with a trip to relegation-threatened Ajax Cape Town on May 12.
