Ea Lla Koto are in the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup and have all but booked their place in next season’s MTN8.
They face Amakhosi in the Nedbank Cup semis this evening at Moses Mabhida Stadium (20h15), eager to edge themselves closer to cup success.
The former Orlando Pirates player says they are capable of upsetting anyone in the PSL and they will do their best to make sure they beat Chiefs.
“Nobody gave us a chance at the beginning of the season. We believe that anything is possible now,” Phungwayo said.
“In the semi-final, no one has an upper hand because at the end of the day it will be [about] who will be hungry for results to go to the final.
“This season we have showed that we can compete against any team, so we are capable of reaching the final.”
Ea Lla Koto will fancy their chances of upsetting an unsettled Amakhosi side tonight. Talk is that Chiefs coach Steve Komphela is set to leave at the end of the season and there is an expected exodus at Naturena. Stars have an opportunity to add to Amakhosi’s woes tonight.
Stars captain Paulus Masehe, meanwhile, says they’ll need to work hard to overcome the Soweto giants.
“We do have what it takes to win the cup, but we know that it is not going to be easy. We will have to sweat blood, fight hard and give everything we have,” Masehe said.
“We have reached the semi-finals before. I think this is my fourth semi-final in the Nedbank Cup since I have been here. It will be great for me to get into the final and I know once we make it to the final, we will go for the kill.”
