Takesure Chinyama on why he left Orlando Pirates

The Zimbabwean international, along with Nigerian midfielder Onyekachi Okonkwo, were shown the door in June to make way for new arrivals, but many felt Chinyama was never given a proper chance.

But the 31-year-old has made peace with the fact and says he is looking forward to a new chapter in his career, especially now that he has received his work-permit which allows him to turn out for Dikwena.

“It’s still a surprise to me, but that is football. You have to move on and accept,” he says. “In football they hire and fire, so what can I say about it? I’m now at Platinum Stars and my life is moving on.

“Yes, I’m disappointed, but what I told myself was there is life after Pirates, so I moved on.”

Chinyama also explains why he never put pen to paper with Wits, despite spending most of pre-season with the club.

“It was all complications about foreign quota; they were keeping me waiting until I decided time is moving and I need to play; I needed to know where I am before the season starts.”
