The call that lured Downs' latest signing

Newly-signed Kegan Johannes has revealed the Mamelodi Sundowns players he spoke to that ultimately put him at ease about his decision to join a club that has become a dominant force in South African football.

Sundowns announced on Monday that Johannes would be the last arrival at Chloorkop following the signing Kobamelo Kodisang and Arthur Sales.

The 23-year-old also follows in the footsteps of many players who have made the switch from SuperSport United to Sundowns including Teboho Mokoena, Aubrey Modiba and Grant Kekana among others.

Speaking on Sundowns' The Pitchside Podcast, the former national U23 captain revealed that it was conversations with a Sundowns' defender and a goalkeeper that were crucial in his decision to join the defending league champions.

"It wasn't even a former teammate, it was a fellow friend. The one that I speak to probably the most was Rushine De Reuck," said Johannes.

"I haven't really spoken [that much] with my former teammates. Also, I've spoken with Jody [February] as well and most of the guys I've played with before as well.

"That's why I say it doesn't necessarily need to be someone who comes from SuperSport.

"In the football fraternity, we all know each other, we all communicate. So, it was easy for me to ask one of the guys."

"I just asked them about the environment is and they told me the environment here is about winning, it's the culture of the club
