Rulani: That's not the Nyoso I want

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena's one-on-one session with new signing Thembinkosi Lorch has revealed how he plans to get the best out of him.

Lorch struggled to be in top form consistently at Pirates in the last few years and he will be hoping to revive his form under a coach who knows him very well.

Mokwena played a big role in the rising of 'Nyoso' as he was the assistant coach at the Buccaneers when the Bafana Bafana forward scooped the Footballer of the Year and Players' Player of the Year accolades in the 2018/19 campaign.

In exclusive behind the scenes training session published by Sundowns media, Mokwena is heard explaining to Lorch what he demands from him.

In a video clip published on the Brazilians' YouTube Channel, the former Pirates tactician told the 30-year-old that he does not want him involved in build-up play far away from the box but wants him to be making things happen in and around the box.

"That's the Nyoso I know! I didn't bring another Nyoso, I brought the Nyoso that I know," Mokwena emphasized to Lorch in a one-on-one session on the edge of the box.

"That's why I don't want you supporting the play here (approximately ten yards away from the D-line), because that's not the Nyoso that I want.

"The Nyoso I want he's got pressure, stress, he's dodging, he's dribbling, he's shooting, he's assisting, he's breaking the line, this is the Nyoso I know," he shouted the instructions.

"Now when I don't get that Nyoso then...(shrugs shoulders), you understand what I mean?

"I told you these things years ago, I don't have to teach you these things and you know them, God gave you that ability, to be able to finish, to dodge, to dribble, you've got it," he added.

Under Jose Riveiro at the Sea Robbers, Lorch played a little deeper, out wide and was involved a lot in build-up play.

But from the practice session with Mokwena at Sundowns, it appears like he will be playing higher up the pitch, centrally, as a number ten or even as a striker.
