Percy Tau: Why I changed my hairstyle

Percy Tau got a new look to kick off the new season, saying he needed to change the look as he approaches the 30 years of age mark. 

The former Mamelodi Sundowns forward, who is renowned for not only his on field performances but also for his adventure when it comes to hairstyles, is taking a bald new approach as he joins the Bafana Bafana squad.

Speaking to Bafana media officer Romy Titus, Tau revealed that he is always keen on attempting new hairstyles. 

"I always try to do something different. i mean I did it also in the previous season where I shaved my hair," he said. 

While some fans believe that Tau getting a haircut means his abilities will go with it, the Al Ahly forward dismissed that notion. 

"People always have this belief that I'm taking away the powers. No, the powers come from god and nothing is being taken away.

"It's just a different look for a new season. I'm reaching 30 now so I need to change the look and be a grootman," he added.

Ahead of their next round of international friendlies against Namibia and DR Congo, the players took some time off to visit Thaba Jabula SS school in Soweto where they were welcomed warmly by students cheering them on. 

Tau said he was happy to be there and wished the matriculants all the best for their upcoming exams. 

"I also wish I had such moments when I was young, to see people that we looked up to. People that give us hope as students. 

"I was happy to be there and also hopefully the kids will take hope from our visit and for them to see that it's possible to play for the national team.

"I wish all the best to the matriculants who are going to be writing their exams. They are the future of the country and we were happy to be there and spend time with them."
