After Mamelodi Sundowns put away Morgan Mammila's Chippa United on Saturday, head coach Rulani Mokwena reserved some special praise for his players for dealing with a difficult opponent.
Speaking after the 2-0 win, Rulani pointed out how they anticipated Mammila to introduce substitutions at half-time, because they did the same after being 1-0 down at the break against Orlando Pirates.
Rulani emphasized the importance of preempting things like because they do a lot of work behind the scenes and it's why he say coaching is not a talk show.
It could be seen a subtle dig at Mammila, who was vocal about not fearing Sundowns and promising that the Chilli Boys will go pound-for-pound with the defending league champions.
Here's how the readers reacted to the "Mokwena: 'Coaching is more than a talk show'" story:
"The so-called spiritual owners of the Naturena-based team are basically hailing insults and missiles at their technical team,": says Shikabala.
"I'm glad that you made that coach eat humble pie," says Dominate-downs.
"Thanks coach Rulani for putting that fly-by-night Mammila guy in his place, he thought by drawing with Pirates and the baby Boks, he had arrived," says GrootmankaBrian.
"Dankie Coach, also lets remind them (Kaizer Chiefs) that PSL is also NOT a talk-show. I can tell they never preempted that after three games, they would have only 1 lonely point in the back.
"Sundowns are already 11 points ahead," says His Majesty Yellow PSL Beast.
"Thanks for the win coach. Morgan created enough hype for the match, it assisted in getting a decent crowd in," says Bendazi.
Read: Gqosha points out Ntseki's mistake
Kaizer Chiefs legend and former captain Lifa Gqosha has identified what he described as Molefi Ntseki's biggest mistake during pre-season.
Amakhosi are experiencing a poor start to the 2023/24 season with two defeats and a draw in the league, with Ntseki's only win so far coming against Cape Town City in the MTN8.
Although Gqosha rates Ntseki and wants Chiefs to leave from Gavin Hunt's season and give the ex-Bafana coach as much support as possible, he feels that the Chiefs boss was too focused on giving players a chance, instead of preparing them for the start of the season.
Here's how the readers reacted to the "Gqosha points out Ntseki's mistake" story:
"The past is the past, now let us support coach Ntseki. Chiefs is not that bad, silly mistakes are costing the team. Itu must take his place, there is no leadership at the back.
"We need Khune's distributions. Khune motivates players, especially when we concede, we tend to lose focus. We need a leader on the field.
"And freekicks, Dolly must come back, kubi," says lwazihnzimande.
"I also said that firing Hunt was an unwise decision," says Legend CRM083.
"South African fans, they seems to know it all in football. What they only know is WIN, not a draw or loss," says jakes74.
"Spot on mhlekazi," says Bamjee in agreement to Gqosha's comments on Ntseki.
